"To comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable"

Oh Syria!

When I read details of what is going on in Syria, it breaks my heart. I wonder about the heartlessness of a regime that drops barrel bombs filed with shrapnel, on crowded places. I wonder about the calculated cruelty, the so-called “strategic necessity” of supporting one side against another, that the US practices. Continue reading

Yemen, another trap US sets…for itself!

The House of Saud has co-opted a number of countries into giving support for its destruction of Houthis, who practice Zaidi school of Shia Islam and who are rejected by the Saudis as heretics. The House of Saud is appearing to bring back the corrupted and ineffective Yemeni (Sunni) leader, who escaped to Arabia after he faced being deposed by the Houthis.

The House of Saud’s “Coalition of the Willing” includes the Gulf states, (Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE), it also includes Jordan and Egypt and efforts are being made to bring in Pakistan as well; Already, Pakistan’s highly trained vets (mercenaries) form the backbones of the militaries of Jordan and all the Gulf countries. Other unadvertised allies of the Saudis, fighting actively against the Houthis, are Al-Qaeda (AQAP) and ISIS (both sworn to destroy America), the latter already taking control of several towns in Aden.

This, against the total estimate of about 100,000 Houthi fighters, spread all over Yemen.

When to attack Iran

I have been listening and reading the news about the increased sanctions against Iran, like everyone else. It was not until I read this latest news that something clicked into place.
  • Business Week  Jan. 6 (Bloomberg) — A European Union embargo on Iranian oil will probably be phased in to protect countries with the greatest reliance on imports from the country, according to an EU official familiar with the talks.
  • Telegraph (UK): Japan agrees to cut dependency on Iranian oil as US scores significant coup against regime…
However, any embargos are only likely to come into effect gradually. Refiners generally buy two thirds of their crude on long term contracts, and these will probably be honoured. The proposed EU embargo – which all member states are understood to endorse in principle – is likely to be phased in over a period of up to 12 months.
As I said earlier, there is little risk of a US-Israeli attack on Iran because of the disastrous effect it will surely have on oil prices.
How to avoid this? Get the “allies” (Europe) to reduce dependence on Iranian oil until a halt in Iran’s oil is barely felt in Europe and North America.

An attack after such a reduction of dependence on Iranian oil, will barely affect oil prices except that the non-European countries will feel a pinch and really, who cares about them when we are fighting a “War!” on terrorism/Iran/Islam?

China might disagree, but it could be placated somehow, with US dollars (not Israeli shekels). The rest of Asia, Africa and South America don’t carry sufficient power to merit America’s attention.

I am convinced that once the West’s oil dependence on Iranian oil is taken care of, a US-Israel attack on Iran will follow within days.
Israel wants it and America is desperate to oblige.

There will be no invasion, just an attack that, over a period of a week or two, will destroy all of Iran’s fighting capacity and most if not all, of Iran’s infrastructure a la Iraq. It will be done by the US under a fig-leaf covering of the “Coalition of the Willing” (Europe) and the Coalition of the Servile (Middle-East); Israel’s role, if any, will remain protected.

Who gives a damn about long-term consequences?

Post script:  This is an excellent analysis by Mehmet Kalyoncu, on the planning and events that are today, leading us to the brink of a “War!” on Iran.

Crumbling US-Pakistan relations

“U.S. Is Deferring Millions in Pakistani Military Aid”
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/10/world/asia/10intel.html?pagewanted=1&_r=2&nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha2
“WASHINGTON – The Obama administration is suspending and, in some cases, canceling hundreds of millions of dollars of aid to the Pakistani military, in a move to chasten Pakistan for expelling American military trainers and to press its army to fight militants more effectively.”

This headline may strike well at home in the US, but it reflects the arrogant, self-centered, group-think that has become the hallmark of the US. To be sure, there are many lobbies that will applaud this decision, lobbies such as, Right-wing Republicans, the Tea Party, right-wing Jewish and Christian groups and of course, there is always India. To these groups, any bashing of the “nucular, trrrrst” Pakistan is a welcome development.

Of course, Pakistan does deserve a swift kick in the behind and often, but this is not the time to do so. A sudden cutting off of aid reinforces the unreliability of the US as a friend and partner; the US has been complaining for long that the US-Pakistan relationship is a transactional one and by treating it so transactionally right now, the US is telling Pakistan…the civilians and the military… that the US cannot be trusted when Pakistan needs a friend Continue reading

Our NOT-“War!” in Libya

I have mixed feelings about the attacks on Libya…

On one hand, I very much support getting rid of Qaddhafi, but on the other hand, I am apprehensive about the intentions and declared goals of the Western “coalition” that has launched attacks against Libya.

Are they really that sincere about their stated slogans of Continue reading

Money, Islamophobia and “War!”

Islamophobia is only a new name for a very old and established commodity for control and power…as old as Time itself…FEAR; it is the oldest method for control and also the most lucrative pursuit in history.

We keep children quiet with fear of the Bogeyman; we keep people under control in religion, because of fear of God’s Wrath and Hell; we rise to political power by invoking fear of economic catastrophe, fear of the “other” and fear of being destroyed…while at the same time presenting ourselves as the best savior, so “Remember to vote for me!”.

Fear brings people to power and Fear keeps people in power; Fear is also the shortest way to fame and fortune….FEAR is what galvanizes the opportunists and Fear is what keeps the best amongst us, silent. Continue reading

Obama’s Nuclear Conference

Using the powerful and attractive influence of an American President, Obama called a meeting of 47 states, to discuss the threat of nuclear materials leaking into the “civilian” world, possibly in the hands of “trrrrrsts!“, who can then cause mass casualties in “The World“.

During the meeting:
  • Obama had called the 47-nation summit to focus world attention on the threat of nuclear terrorism, a peril he termed the greatest threat facing all nations and a “cruel irony of history” after mankind had survived the Cold War and decades of fear stoked by a U.S.-Soviet arms race.

A terrorist group in possession of plutonium no bigger than an apple could detonate a device capable of inflicting hundreds of thousands of casualties, he said.

“Terrorist networks such as al-Qaida have tried to acquire the material for a nuclear weapon, and if they ever succeeded, they would surely use it,” he told the opening session, which convened under tight security at the Washington Convention Center. “Were they to do so, it would be a catastrophe for the world, causing extraordinary loss of life and striking a major blow to global peace and stability.”

Several countries stepped forward and agreed to turn over their enriched Uranium…to Rome
Russia agreed to sell most of its nuclear material…to Rome

Israel of course, maintained its arrogant attitude towards the US and sent a deputy to the meeting instead of their Prime Minister, thus proving once again, that some tails CAN wag their dog.

As usual, the US continued with its policy of a jab at Pakistan and another at Iran, while supporting Indian nuclear plans and shutting their eyes to Indian proliferation in its military reactors.

Another Victory! We can all breathe easier, knowing that “The World” is more secure from “trrrrrsts!“, who would take an apple-sized glob of Plutonium and cause massive catastrophe on “The World“.

Of course, one has to try and understand just what the purpose of such a meeting could have been and just whose sacred cows were being protected here…Rome’s of course!
Rome is the ONLY nation on Earth, that has ever used a nuclear bomb…twice!
Rome and Russia are the only countries to come to the brink of using their nuclear arsenal.
Rome is the only country whose leaders openly called for nuclear bombing of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Rome is the ONLY country that has used nuclear bombs CONTINUOUSLY, since about 1990. Continue reading

Muslim Women are in Trouble!

I was reading a new post from my friend Richard Silverstein’s blog Tikun Olam, he was talking about another assassination campaign by The Clarion Fund, the same one that, together with Aish Ha’Torah, is behind other stellar examples of anti-Muslim fear-mongering like “Obsession” and “The Third Jihad”.

This time, the target is Iran…that nation of murderers who are just itching to kill every American and Jew and who will surely blow up the entire world as soon as they get their dirty hands on (gasp!) “THE BOMB!!!!“. If the Blindly pro-Israeli Lobbies (and there are many) get their way, every Muslim should be subjected to Der Fuhrer‘s Final Solution before everyone in the “Judeo-Christian Civilization” is wiped out. Not only would this protect our sacred “Freedom” and “Democracy”, it would also defend Israel, that other bastion of “Democracy” that is fighting its lonely war for survival as it is forced to kill a few thousand Palestinians every year (they keep reproducing so fast!).
Sarcasm aside, don’t ever underestimate the raw power of the producers of these films, combined with the political power of organizations like AIPAC, ADL, AJC, the Republican Party, hundreds of supporting Synagogues and right-wing Christian Churches and uncountable nutters.
Together, they can mobilize propaganda that would make Goebbels envious, remember, it is just such a Cooperation of Evil that launched the “War!” against Afghanistan and Iraq, killing well over a million humans and layering the two countries with a carpet of gene-deforming Depleted Uranium (half-life = 4.5 BILLION years).
It is just this Coalition of Evil that is behind the persecution of Muslims in America and in the West (as Muslims sit on their hands).

Can it get any worse? Just don’t ask the question…

Richard also noted a rather humorous item…at least, humorous in a dark, unfunny way, for those of us who are not women and maybe hilarious to those of us who are not Muzlem.
I followed his story through a few links and sources and found that the sources are popular but not at all credible, if one is a rational, intelligent human being, but completely TRUE!!!! By God! if one is among the growing numbers of “Patriots”, those who love America (tear rolls down a strong cheek) and are willing to die for THE Flag (rounds get chambered) and to protect America by God! (Cross-hairs on Muzlems).

Iran, Muslim nations, THE BOMB & other WMDs

Iran has been the whipping boy for the US and an obedient West ever since Iran made the grave “mistake” of kicking out the Shah. This over-reaction is based on several factors; that a country should dare to oppose the wishes of Rome (US) and then, take prisoner an entire diplomatic staff and THEN vilify Rome at every turn.
As if this were not enough, Iran then had the nerve to lambaste Rome’s Praetorian Guard (Israel) that maintains “balance” and order in the far-flung reaches of the Empire and keeps the dogs at bay. Continue reading
