What do we do when we are cursed with a Congress that cares only for themselves and their own re-election fundraising and not for even the basic civil rights of people in the US?

 

I wrote to my Representative and to my two Senators, voicing concern about Department of Justice trying to sneak in permission to imprison anyone…without charges or trials…indefinitely.

 

Slaughtering Muslims the “Civilized Way”

The attacks on Muslims by Trump the Republican Party have echoes in the past and recent tragedies. This time, Rep Ilhan Omar is being used as the starting point for greater levels of Islamophobia.

Hitler worked on the Germans to launch his “Final Solution” against (mostly) Jews and slaughtered millions before he was stopped by Germany’s defeat. It is noteworthy that Germans were forced into silence, acquiescence or support. The “Allies” were not interested in stopping the extermination, they were interested in maintaining their empires without the growing threat of the Japan-Germany alliance.

Stigmatizing entire groups

Last night, I was trying to catch up on my huge stack of unread magazines (there is a huge stack of books right behind them!) when I came up on a story about the WWII internment of Japanese-descent Americans in a stamp-collecting magazine (yes, I am one of those nutters).

On February 19^th, 1942, President Roosevelt signed an order leaving it to the military to designate “exclusion zones” and then moving the Japanese-Americans to “detention centers”. In spite of the fact that these were all Concentration Camps, the euphemisms they were known by were: “Assembly Center”, “Relocation Center”, “Isolation Center” and “Temporary Camps”, mostly along the deserts of the West Coast. In all, about 88% of the Japanese Americans…112,000 people were interned, most of their properties were “sold” at fire-sales or expropriated. Their actual losses at the time, were about $400 million, Congress generously provided a restitution after the war, of about $38 million and President Reagan signed an Act of apology in 1988.

It never fails. Every time there is a minority group being targeted, Some bigoted Whites crawl out from under their rocks to minimize and erase the oppression with fiction. Thus, when Muslims are targeted by the US as a matter of national and political policies, people seek to erase the oppression by saying they are only going after “Terrorists”…forgetting of course, that the same or worse act by REAL (Judeo-Christian and White) Americans (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-crime-militia-idUSBRE82S1EX20120329) are sometimes, not even regarded as crimes, let alone “Terrorism”. Torture, when applied to Muslims, is recast as “Robust Interrogation”…I could go on…

Now many White groups who feel threatened by the facts that Blacks in America are starting to actually agitate for their rights and the “Black Lives Matter” is becoming stronger, introduce the false-flag notion that “White Lives Matter” as well. Of course, if White lives did not matter, Whites would be standing shoulder to shoulder with Blacks and the entire politics of this nation would be in an upheaval. White lives mattered when nobody ever thought of Blacks or, nobody wondered why Blacks were being lynched and not being allowed to vote as equals.

FATAH: Mentally ill? The media or the murderer?

I was sent a link to this (headline) article from the Toronto Sun questioning whether the media were mentally ill because they were soft on Muslims. It was sent to me by a dear friend who, as a Hindu from Pakistan has (sadly) good reason to be mad at Muslims persecuting minorities like him in the name of Islam. Pakistan’s twisted system of law, what they call “Sharia-based” law gives cover to the monsters who take part in murders and persecutions of religious minorities. My friend’s e-mail was in response to him originally referring to “Radicalized” when talking about violent Muslims. I pointed out that the term “Radicalized” is not a hole lot different from “terrorist”, “fundamentalist” and “home-frown” in that they have become slightly civilized code for Muslims. I asked him to not use such terms and to be against violence and injustice no matter who committed it.

He replied by telling me there are Muslims who go to becoming Martyrs and killing people so when they go to Heaven, they will have “a gaggle of virgins”. That as guests in this country, we should refrain from “complaining and bitching at home and in Mosques” about the US and the West because it contributes to Muslim violence.

He closed by telling me that as “A Muslim leader”, it is my job to speak out against violence. This was my response:

Yes! Move US Embassy to Jerusalem!

It sure looks like it is happening now that Trump has informed Abbas that the US Embassy will be moved to Jerusalem. Abbas, like all other Palestinian leaders, will grovel and accept but make lots of noises about how terrible it would be. Arab leaders will do their typical “I’m mad!” dance and shout that this will mean the end of the world because the gates of Hell will crash open if the US does so. Mindless Muslims across the world will demonstrate how upset they are and they will proceed to burn their neighbors’ properties to show their rage at the US. Europe will state in a most civilized manner, that this step would not be helpful.

The FBI will go on high alert in the US and will start to look for yet more “Muzlems” to target but the world will move on…

What next? Brown shirts, Jack-boots and a hunt to cleanse “our White, Christian, Fatherland”?

 

NO. I refuse to accept that ANYONE is out there, not supporting the hate platform of the Republican Party and still calls himself/herself a Republican. If you are a Republican, you are a party to the hate against Muslims and Islam, you are a party to the hate against Hispanics, Blacks, LGBTQ and everyone else that the party of “Grab ’em by the p***y” hates.

An Ethical Dilemma and a Legal Problem…for Muslims!

You have a friend who was planning to join ISIS. You find out and talk with him and finally dissuade him from his plans. With your help he is now on the right path in life.

Should you tell the FBI even though he no longer has those plans?

What if you know that telling the FBI will only destroy the young fellow who is no longer a threat to anyone?

What if the FBI asks you if you know anyone planning to join a “Terrorist organization”?

Neil Gorsuch has been confirmed by the Senate  and will be sworn in on Monday. This judge is so pro-money, that he found against the truck driver who was fired for abandoning his cargo to find a warm place during a snow-storm to avoid freezing to death. A lot of leaders have used this example to show how blatant Gorsuch’s biases are. Hardly anyone commented in the fact that Gorsuch was one of the White House lawyers who defended the authority of the Administration, to use “Enhanced Techniques” (Torture) on prisoners. Gorsuch’s excuse is that he was merely doing what he was paid to do because he was employed by the White House; “I was only following orders” is an excuse used by many a scoundrel throughout history.
