Congressman Jim McDermott Signs Pledge: Equal Protection for Muslims

Congressman Jim McDermott of Washington’s 7th Congressional District, has signed the pledge to protect ALL minorities against bigotry and we just received it. In signing this pledge, Jim is joined by:
Jay Inslee (Candidate for Governor), Rob McKenna (Candidate for Governor), Adam Smith (Incumbent Candidate for 9th District House of Congress) and Darshan Runiyer (Candidate for 1st District, House of Congress).
  • “All People Are Created Equal…”

I, _____Jim McDermott______ do affirm my belief that all people under the jurisdiction of the United States, have the right to equal protection under the constitution of the United States, including Arabs and Muslims.

I promise to repudiate, reject and oppose publicly, any acts or statements of bigotry against any race, nationality or religion, that may occur in my environment. This includes acts and statements of politicians in the State of Washington as well as in Washington DC., Towards that goal, I will use all available means at my disposal, to oppose any training against Islam and Muslims, that is being imparted to our national, state and local law-enforcement agencies and to our military.

    Signed: ________Jim McDermott______________

    Dated ________13th July 2012______________________

Of ALL the members of Congress (Representatives or Senators) from Washington State, Jim is the ONLY one to consistently take stands based on what is right, instead of what is the party line.
Jim was against the so-called “War!” in Iraq and in Afghanistan. More recently, Jim voted against the NDAA 2012 because of its Section 1021, a law that allows the military to “detain” any Muslim…without charges or trial…forever. To be sure, the “M”-word is not part of the NDAA 2012 language, but when one looks at how the target people are defined, one is hard-pressed to find the definitions applying to non-Muslims
Congressman Jim McDermott deserves and has earned, all the support that Muslims can give him. In fact, not only Muslims, but all the support that anyone who cares about common decency, Justice and Truth, can give him.

  1. In other words he supports the Constitution. Does he support the ACLU attack on the Cross on Mount Soledad? Do You?

    • I have no idea about Jim’s position on the Cross, but here is my position, even though this topic has nothing to do with the topic of my article:

The Cross on Mt Soledad ( is a 43-foot high cross, built on PUBLIC lands and is therefore a national preference for one religion. It is also a VETERANS memorial and thus, is an insult to the many Jews, Muslims and other faith- and non-faith groups whose members also gave their lives for this country.

Take it down or, build other, equally large religious monuments for every religion that has been represented in the Armed Forces. But then, how do you represent the Agnostics and the Athiests?

      Take it down.

  2. I believe what you said made a lot of sense. But, think
about this, suppose you added a little information?
I am not saying your information isn’t solid, but suppose you added a headline that grabbed folk’s
attention? I mean Congressman Jim McDermott Signs Pledge: Equal Protection for Muslims Penjihad’s Blog is kinda plain. You ought to glance at Yahoo’s front page
and watch how they create news titles to get viewers to click.
You might try adding a video or a picture or two to
get readers excited about everything’ve got to say. In my opinion, it might bring your blog a little livelier.
