Why should Muslims try to work together and create a voting bloc for our common interests?
Except for those Muslims who have been comatose for the past many years, it is obvious that hostility towards Islam and Muslims is growing fast and with a vengeance. Countries are enacting laws against Muslims under the pretext of defending “Freedom”, “Democracy” or some other empty slogan that people in the West cherish but fail to practice.
Switzerland has banned the construction of minarets; not Church spires, minarets.
The US has made it okay (2010-2014 NDAA Section 1021) to imprison Muslims…FOREVER, without charges or trial.
Once upon a time, there was peace in the world. Well, peace in so far as Mankind is capable of peace so, perhaps it would be better to rephrase that opening line by saying, “Once upon a time, the world was not in flames”. There were dictators who obeyed the Super-powers that brought the dictators to power and there were super-powers who fought covert wars between themselves, being careful to use proxy fighters and none of their own; such policies are protected by the Doctrine of Plausible Deniability where everyone knows what happened and who did it, but there are no red-handed representatives of the “other” to blame and thus, open war could be avoided.
So yes, once upon a time there was a relative peace of sorts, in this world. Dictators made sure they could stay in power and they did so with the help of the super-powers, chiefly the USA and the Soviet Union. The dictators had a little interest in helping their own tribal people, but only because that is where they could most be assured of loyalty and continue in power. If one group decided to start a hate-campaign against another on grounds of ethnic, religious or, sectarian lines, the dictator would squash that group until there were no more upstarts. Free speech was irrelevant but by and large, people were free to follow their desires as long as the Dictator’s boat was not rocked. Continue reading
This article (“When Genocide is Permissible
“) by a Jewish journalist was published in “The Times of Israel”, but was taken down, probably after they were informed about the embarrassment of publishing such an article…but not before it was picked up and re-published in other media such as on Mondoweiss. I am re-producing it below (note especially
, the closing words).
This attitude of perpetrating Genocide on Palestinians is nothing new, it has been promoted and talked about, in the highest circles of Israeli and Diaspora Jewish societies, it has been insisted upon by prominent Jewish Rabbis, one Rabbi Rontzki (former Chief Rabbi of IDF) even told the invading Israeli troops that to spare the lives of ANY men, women or children in Gaza would condemn the IDF soldiers to Hell). Besides, the US is ever-present to ensure accusations of War Crimes or Genocide by Israel (or itself!), are never brought to court.
Muslims are not losing the battle for opinion on Israel/Palestine, we never had it.
Since the first time Americans learnt about that area, it was more “Israel” than it was “Palestine”. Americans were told there is no such thing as Palestine and Israel is the land that has been “returned” to the Jewish people who are “returning” to what was coined as “A land without people, for a people without a land”. As late as the 1970′s, Israeli leaders continued to insist that were no such thing as “Palestinians”, disregarding the fact that the total period of Hebrew rule in that land was a mere couple of hundred years, while much of the the Palestinians have been there for thousands of years, some harkening back to the Canaanite period.
A friend recently wrote to a list of Muslims, that we must vote against every incumbent because tey are all useless.
I share his frustration and anger (noted at the bottom), but not the proposed reaction of not voting for any of the incumbents. It is true, our representatives have failed to take note of our concerns and feelings when they sign on to legislation and when they speak out in public. Much as I would like to kick their selfish behinds, I have to admit that the fault is more ours, than it is theirs.
I am not sure whether Muslims are fearful, ignorant, indifferent or, too arrogant, to do what is best for our collective good, it may even be a combination of all these things. The current thinking among us Muslims seems to go along these lines:
The FBI is very concerned about “Radicalized” Somali youth leaving the US to join Al-Shabab in Somalia and fighting for them. Try visiting Somalia and you will be “interviewed” by the FBI before you even leave. If you do manage to visit Somalia, even if you visit a neighboring country and you are Somali and you WILL get the royal “interview” treatment by the FBI. IF you ever get back because the FBI will quite likely place you on their notorious “No-Fly” list which has added over 1.5 MILLION people to it in just the past five years. Continue reading
We are in the month of Ramadan when we must fast from sunrise to sunset. This does not simply mean that we should go on a glorified diet plan, it means we must also DO the things God as told us we must do, such as fight evil, oppression and injustice. We must also stand up for truth and we must sacrifice what is ours in order to help our fellow humans.
…and we must help our fellow Muslims when they face trouble.
So many of us lead lives full of all kinds of blessings, we have food, shelter protection, reasonably good health and many of us are blessed with a lot more money than we actually need. So many of us seem to believe all we need to do to fulfill our obligations to society and to God, is to give to charity, pay our taxes, pray and stay away from that Demon whose name comes after we spit; “Politics”.
When saw the news that three teens had been kidnapped in Israel, I felt sad for them and for their parents. I thought it may take the path of some exchanges of Palestinians for the boys and that would be that. I also felt fear for Palestinians because I knew Israelis would react with demonic fury, heedless of how many victims they claim.
I was partly right. Israeli military and paramilitary forces launched an all-out effort to find the boys and to find who did it, taking many prisoners who were sure to be tortured (Israeli courts have allowed the use of torture in their so-called, “ticking bomb” scenarios) and causing destruction in their path.
Today, when I heard that the bodies of the boys were found, I was very sad, especially for the parents. Surviving their children is surely the nightmare of all parents, no child deserves to be the victim of any battles between adults. Children are always innocents, their killing can never be justified, even when they may be found carrying guns. It is bad enough that people dismissively kill other innocents (non-combatants) but those who kill children must surely rank among the lowest forms of humanity, along with those who permit such killings.
Recently a man entered the Jewish Museum in Brussels and opened fire killing three and injuring one before he fled. He was later captured in Paris and discovered to be a French Muslim, he was carrying ammunition for a Kalashnikov “and a white cloth with Arabic writing on it“, among other things.
France jumped into action, arresting Muslims who planned to travel to Syria or to any country even close to Syria, believing that these people are looking to fight in Syria and if they survive, they would return to Europe and become trained mass killers…”Jihadis” is the convenient, if misleading term.
The main fact here, that fired the imaginations of most, if not every Westerner, is that the man is a Muslim. That fact alone informs the West and Jews especially, that Muslims are out to get them and Muslims will not rest as long as there are “Unbelievers” alive.
What a load of rubbish! Continue reading
This Washington DC bus ad could well become a self-fulfilling cycle that could tear apart any hopes of Muslim-Jew relationships.
Muslim groups could be lured into a retaliatory campaign which could then provoke a counter-attack, while Jewish groups maintain their silence because they do not wish to be seen as attacking fellow Jews. At some point, Muslims and Jews will forget the idiotic ads and will begin to deeply distrust each other, which is exactly what the hate-mongers want us to be doing.
